Our team are an essential part of our service, and as such are highly valued & treated with respect.
It is widely known that good care staff can be difficult to find, so when we find a great carer we do everything we can to keep them; which in turn helps us provide a high quality & dependable service to our clients.
All our team members are provided fully funded training to Care Certificate standards – the recognised national minimum standard for carers - which must be attained within 3 months of starting with us.
Prior to visiting our service users, our team members must complete Mandatory Training, which gives them the basic skills needed to provide for and safeguard the people they care for.
They are subject to Enhanced DBS checks before being employed, and must pass a rigorous recruitment process to ensure they are people who can be trusted to care for & keep safe the people who use our service.
We encourage all our staff to attain training up to the Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care as part of their Continuing Professional Development. This is again fully funded, and we provide all manner of optional short courses to enhance their skill set.
We pride ourselves on paying our staff the Living Wage Foundation Living Wage, which is significantly higher than the Living Wage recently adopted by the government.
We also reimburse travel expenses including travel time to our team members, and seek to reduce the distance between visits where possible - meaning car ownership is not a pre-requisite for working with us.
Further to this, it is our policy to avoid providing visits of less than half an hour – 15 minute visits have been a topic of much controversy in recent years, and we believe they are insufficient for providing care properly & unfair for our team.
We believe that treating our team fairly & with respect will result in the highest possible quality of care for our service users, as well as attracting the best candidates.
We also believe that longer visits allow the carer and service user to develop a bond – something people employed in the care industry often report provides the greatest job satisfaction, and which service users often value above all else too.
