Role Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nursing Home Manager to lead a specialist nursing home supporting adults with mental health issues, substance misuse, and alcohol dependency. This role is ideally suited for a qualified nurse with a strong background in management and a commitment to delivering exceptional standards of care.

The ideal candidate will combine clinical expertise with strong leadership skills to create a nurturing, safe, and recovery-focused environment. You will oversee a team of dedicated care and nursing staff, ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards while promoting person-centred care that empowers residents to achieve their recovery goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the nursing home, ensuring clinical excellence and high-quality care.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding policies, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of personalised care plans that address residents’ mental health, substance misuse, and complex care needs.
  • Provide clinical leadership, ensuring best practices are followed in nursing care and treatment.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and improve service delivery, including quality assurance and audits.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and staffing levels effectively.
  • Support and mentor staff, promoting professional development and ongoing learning.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • A current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disabilities).
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a nursing or care home setting.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding practices, and clinical governance.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Empathy and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable adults.

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing a nursing home specialising in mental health or substance misuse.
  • Qualifications in mental health nursing or addiction therapy.
  • Proven ability to lead change and improve care outcomes.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to meet the needs of the residents and the home.
