With live-in care, a carer will come and stay at your home to support you throughout the day with anything you need. The live-in carer will be on hand for company or any other domestic tasks you require – for example, cleaning or shopping – in addition to supporting you with your care needs.
You will pay for your live-in carer weekly. They will be with you for typically a few weeks at a time before being replaced by another fully trained live-in carer. Live-in carers usually have a two hour break daily.
You will need to think about your care needs and whether you will require additional care support during this time. You will also need to think about any night-time care support you might need. Your live-in care assistant will need to be able to get a reasonable nights sleep.
